Water test strips - a tool that is crucial to a pool or spa owner. But not a lot of people understand them. Since the inauguration of your pool ownership, you were told to use water test strips right? Now, if you are a beginner, it will be understandable if you would be feeling around these strips. You might as yourself "What in heaven's name am I supposed to do with this?" Yeah, well, you are not alone. Every beginner struggles with identifying the purpose and usage of water test strips. Some may even question what they are for. If you are one of them, then don't worry. Here is a step by step guide to help you put those strips to good use.

AN INTRODUCTION

Water test strips wasn't always used to test the chemical levels in pools and spas. In the olden days, pool or spa owners were instructed to bring a small bottle's measurement to their pool, spa or chemical dealers. In that establishment, the water will be tested. A printed out result will then be given to the client. This is great but let's admit it, we do not have all the time in the world to spend for going back and forth just to be able to test our chemical levels. The funny thing is that it is necessary to test the water every single day. Who has the time to even do that right? I'm sure every pool or spa owner can agree to that predicament.

Hence, the water test strips were made to make a pool and spa owner's life easier. These were made to test your water's chemical levels. These levels will then be adjusted, either increase or decrease it, according to the results. Yes, every day life had just been made easy with water test strips. Thank you GOD!

SO HOW DO YOU USE IT?

Note: Make sure to buy your water test strips first.

1. Talk to a personnel where you bought your them. These have been made by various companies and dealers. Be certain that you are made familiar to its specification.

2. Read the instructions on the back of the container. You should also have a manual with you. This manual or booklet will tell you how to alter your chemical levels.

3. Take a strip and dip it into the water. Make sure that the strip is fully submerged when you do this. Dipping only a part of it will prove ineffective.

4. Let the it stay in the water for about 5-10 seconds. This will give the strip the opportunity to obtain accurate readings. After the said time, take it out of the water and do one firm shake to get rid of the excess water.

5. Compare the colors with the colors that are imprinted on the back of the packaging. This is the most important part. This will give you the results that you need to adjust your pool or spa's chemicals so make sure that you read the upshot correctly.

Note: If you are still having a hard time reading or understanding the result, opt to procure a digital water test strip reader. This gadget will give you an accurate reading of your strip. This is bound to make your life even easier.
